( Ali Austin ) of Jamaica started singing at the tender age of 7 in church. He picked up his first instrument at the age of 15 when he picked up a bass and started his own gospel band with some friends. They performed cover songs of gospel music in church, schools, and concerts. He started as a background bass player for gospel stars like Jones, George Knox, and True Influence of Jamaica. He was also apart of a family band at the age of 18 with his two brothers and three cousins. When the gospel bands started to separate, he realized he could sing in front of crowds. He started to go solo and write his own songs when his somalin brother Ricardo Austin and two other cousins Stinger and Rock Star became the group Charm Skwad. They thought they would take a chance in 2006 to the Rising Star and the group made top 10 in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. They then recorded a song with Bonfire Productions and started to get discovered with radioplay and moved to Kingston to pursue future dreams in the music industry. He then met with the producer Caveman and worked on his label with Noble reggae artists such as Sizzla and Beenie Man. That is when a project opportunity came up for Bonnie Wailer and he made his first EP. He then moved to Negril and started to perform in the hotels to the international tourist audience and later became the Entertainer Manager for Burban Beach Hotels. He then started opening for the artists he first was introduced to like Sizzla, Yella Man, Chronix, Bonnie Wailer, Professor Nuts amongst others. After that J1 Recordings was born. His first artist was Jah Mason and went on his first tour to places like Mexico, Belize, some of the southern United States of America and later located at the last destination, Australia. He stayed in Australia for over a year when he found his most recent place of residence, Victoria, BC. He started performing at a local bar called Logans, when he later came across some locals and made the reggae group Ali and the Buds. They performed at various places throughout the island and knew they made it when they had the opportunity to perform at Skafest with the Wailers, Toots and the Maytals, and Shaggy. The Island knew about the vibe he was bringing when he started his monthly parties that cultivated up to 200 people that still go on to this day. He is usually the first pick for introducing artists performances like Akon, Shaggy, TI, Christopher Martin and Sean Kingston.
